Motor Vehicle Accident Treatment

Motor Vehicle Accident Treatment

If you have been involved in a motor vehicle accident, no matter how minor it may seem, it is important that you seek attention for your injuries or potential injuries as soon as possible. Even minor injuries can develop into more serious conditions if left untreated. An auto injury may result in lost work or school time, and cause difficulties in dealing with day-to-day responsibilities. After you have been in an accident, it’s vital to seek medical attention as soon as possible to ensure you receive the treatment you need to avoid future complications.

At Acorn Family Health and Wellness Centre we specialize in recovery, pain management, rehabilitation and prevention. Our program offers multi-disciplinary medical treatments led by our team of accomplished health professionals that provide a collaborative approach to the rehabilitation program we set up for your individual needs.

The most common injury resulting from an automobile accident is whiplash, occurring from the sudden acceleration (or deceleration) of the head and neck during collisions. As a result, patients generally complain of neck pain, jaw tightness, stiffness, headache, lower back ache and other soft tissue injuries. Sometimes the symptoms do not appear until a few days or even months after the accident. Most patients will experience mild symptoms that gradually improve over time.  However, for some people, the recovery process can be extremely slow and painful. Persistent pain three months after an accident is often diagnosed as Chronic Whiplash Syndrome. Most people involved in Motor Vehicle accidents suffer from soft tissue pain, but other problems can occur. Whiplash injuries can result in severe damage to the muscles, ligaments and joints as well as concussions, traumatic brain injuries, TMJD, anxiety or post-traumatic stress disorder, or possible fractures.

Each treatment plan is carefully designed to assist patients in returning to a full and productive pre-injury condition as soon as possible.

These treatments can include one or more of the following therapy techniques:

Chiropractic Care
Concussion Assessment and Rehabilitation
Osteopathic Care
Physiotherapy
Massage Therapy
Registered Kinesiology
Acupuncture
Naturopathy for Inflammation
Active and Passive Joint Mobilization
Strengthening and Conditioning Programs
Medical Acupuncture Reflexology
Custom Braces and Splints
Postural Assessment and Rehabilitation
Electrical modalities such as Laser, Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS), Interferential Current (IFC) and Ultrasound helps patients return to their normal daily activities by decreasing pain and tissue inflammation.
Education: most importantly, our specialists will not only treat patient, but also raise awareness for the patient and educate them with respect to the nature of injury and recovery. This allows the patients to fully participate in the rehabilitation process.

According to “The Insurance Act”, cost for medical rehabilitation care due to car accident will be covered by an insurance company either through Auto Insurance or Extended Health Care Insurance if applicable.
