What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is holistic, traditional and drug-free manual therapy and makes use of manual assessment
and treatment. This holistic natural manual therapy treats the whole person through a comprehensive
and thorough case history and assessment. It identifies areas of the body that are restricted or
constricted, then determining a treatment protocol to gently ease their restrictions so that normal
function can resume.
The goal of the practitioner is to find the underlying cause of the symptoms the body is experiencing
and restoring the natural healing capabilities of the body. We allow the nature to do its job of
removing the obstacles and obstructions that will interfere with the proper nutrition and drainage of
the body’s tissue.
Osteopathic treatment works to restore proper body mechanics, nerve impulses and the circulation
of body fluids. The treatments are not time based, they are based on what your body’s needs at that
time. Osteopathy allows for normal interrelationships between the body’s anatomy and physiology. Once
all fluids- blood, lymph and nerves are given freedom of passage and allowed to flow, health is
restored naturally.
Osteopathy emphasizes the relation between structure and function of the human body. This therapy
follows a belief in the body’s ability to self-heal and self-regulate, which is why Osteopathic Manual
Practitioners do not see themselves as healers, but instead as facilitators to health.
